It creeps up on you,
In your very quiet moments,
Those moments between meditation,
and living your life to the fullest.
It sneaks up on you,
Just when you are ready to exhale,
Just when you think that you are whole again,
Fit to face what living this life entails.
It catches you unawares,
When your heart is finally clear,
From all the burdens you had carried,
For weeks, months and even years.
It takes a deep hold over you,
From your actions to your words,
Your usual precise clarity of thought,
Is now sadly visually impaired.
It must not triumph over you,
You must fight hard to push it away,
So that you can be hopeful for future joys,
That life is sure to bring your way.
